We subconsciously teach children what it means to be a girl or boy through media, the toys they play with and through interactions with adults. These expectations often create the boxes we use to define our gender identity as we grow older. The effects of the gender norms this creates can bee seen in Lauren Greenfield's short documentary for the Always #LikeAGirl campaign.

Using #LikeAGirl as an insult is a hard knock against any adolescent girl. And since the rest of puberty's really no picnic either, it's easy to see what a huge impact it can have on a girl's self-confidence.

THE PROBLEM:
How can I bring attention to words and phrases we use daily that have a subconscious but direct impact on the way girls and women view their place in our culture. 

THE SOLUTION:
Get people to think twice when they use these words or phrases by raising awareness of their impact.
